Wanda SLSC was honoured to have special guest Mark Speakman MP for Cronulla join us and was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for his support of the government grant to upgrade and renovate the existing male amenities at Wanda SLSC which was made possible through the NSW State Government Surf Club Facility Program. Thank you Mr Speakman.

Beach Warrior is a mass participation obstacle racing event held on the beaches of Australia, owned and operated by Surf Life Saving Australia.

The inaugural national Beach Warrior event was held on the Saturday of SLSA’s iconic Coolangatta Gold weekend (12-13 October 2019). Find out more here.

2019 BEACH SAFETY WORKSHOPS

Wanda was proud to collaborate with SLSNSW, University of Sydney and West Sydney Multiculturalism for the Multicultural/ CALD Beach Safety workshop on Friday 3rd October and Friday 11th October. The Beach Safety Workshops shared the all important message of swimming between the flags and addressed dangers that can be at our beaches.

MEET WANDA’S NEWEST LIFESAVERS

Congratulations to Wanda’s newest Lifesavers! Well done to our U14 nippers on passing their Surf Rescue Certificate! We are immensely proud of you all! We know that all your training and education throughout your nipper journey and the expert help from our fantastic trainers Karen, Potty and Kenny had you beautifully prepared. We can’t wait to see you patrolling our favourite beach, Wanda, this season. Well done kids!

OCEAN RACING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
France
9-15 September 2019

Congratulations to Wanda’s Georgia Sinclair who placed 4th in the U23s Ocean Racing World Championships in France and 14th overall out of 76 Competitors. We are extremely proud!! Oui Oui!

2019 JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY
2-4 October 2019

Congratulations to young gun Dane Sutton on participating and representing Wanda at the SLSNSW State Junior Development Academy on 2-4 October. Dane was one of 44 Surf life Saving’s most talented junior athletes selected to attend the program. What a great opportunity and we are extremely proud of you!

BRITNEY PIERCE QUALIFIES FOR 2019/20 NUTRI-GRAIN SERIES

Wanda was well represented in the qualifying round of the Nutri-Grain Iron Series at Coolum on 7 and 8 September. Congrats to Nathan Jay, Noah Steiner, Carla Papac, Taylor Puskaric and Britney Pierce who all put in a superb effort over the weekend with some tough racing amongst Australia’s elite athletes. Congrats to Carla on finishing 17th in the final.

Congrats to Britney who placed 2nd overall and secured her place in the series. Wanda hasn’t been represented in the Iron Woman Series since Olympic Swimmer Stacey Gartrell in the 90s, so this is a massive achievement. We can’t wait to watch Britney compete over the course of 5 rounds for the glory of being crowned the Nutri-Grain IronWoman Champion!
